Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was promoted to Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she became the head of the congressional reporters. She became chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including fiscal reform, the budget, and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. Mitchell traveled extensively with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
